How a Handwritten Font Transformed My Brand’s Look

When I launched my small candle-making business, I focused on perfecting the scent blends and packaging materials. But after a few months, I noticed something was missing. Customers loved the product, but the branding didn’t quite match the care and warmth that went into each candle. The labels looked a bit generic, my Instagram posts lacked personality, and even my thank-you cards felt like they belonged to someone else’s brand.

It wasn’t until I attended a local maker’s fair and saw how other small businesses used fonts to express their unique style that I realized my brand needed a typography refresh. I started researching and came across Attari—a modern handwritten font that felt both personal and professional. I downloaded it, and within a few days, I began applying it to my packaging, social media visuals, and printed materials. The change was subtle, but powerful.

Attari has a cool, contemporary handwriting style. It’s not overly cursive or decorative, which makes it feel approachable yet polished. It’s the kind of font that says, “I care about how my brand looks, but I’m not trying too hard to impress you.” That balance was exactly what I needed for my candle brand. I used it on my candle jar labels, replacing the generic script I had used before. The result? A more cohesive and memorable look that customers began to recognize and appreciate.

Where to Use Attari for Maximum Impact

If you’re running a small business—whether it’s a bakery, skincare brand, boutique, or café—your brand appears in many places: packaging, labels, social media, menus, and more. Attari works especially well in the following areas:

It’s not ideal for long paragraphs or small print, but as a display font, it shines. Whether it’s on a boutique tag or a café menu header, Attari brings a sense of warmth and craftsmanship that resonates with customers.

Why Typography Matters for Small Brands

When you’re running a small business, every detail counts. Typography might seem like a minor choice, but it plays a big role in how your brand is perceived. First impressions often happen through packaging or a social media post—and the font you choose can either build trust or turn people off before they even read your message.

Attari helped me create a consistent visual language across all my brand touchpoints. My candle labels now matched my Instagram templates, which matched my website banners. That consistency made my brand feel more established and intentional, even though I was still running everything from my home studio.

Another benefit? Readability. I tested the font on small labels and found that its clear letterforms held up well even at smaller sizes. On mobile screens, it remained legible and elegant. That made it perfect for digital marketing materials like email headers and product mockups.

Pairing Attari with Other Fonts

One of the best things about Attari is how well it pairs with other fonts. Since it’s a script, I usually combine it with a clean sans serif like Montserrat or Lato for body text. This contrast helps guide the eye and makes the design feel balanced.

If I’m going for a more upscale look—like for a luxury candle line—I’ll pair it with a serif font like Playfair Display. The contrast between the elegant serif and the modern script gives the brand a layered, sophisticated feel without being overwhelming.

For digital use, especially on websites or social media banners, I often use a minimalist font like Raleway or Open Sans to keep the layout modern and easy to scan. The key is to let Attari be the star while supporting it with fonts that help the message come through clearly.

Things to Consider Before Using Attari

Before you download any font for commercial use, always check the licensing. I made sure that the version of Attari I purchased allowed for use in product packaging, digital downloads, and client work. Most premium fonts like this come with multiple file formats—OpenType, TrueType, WOFF—which makes them versatile for both print and web use.

Also, take a look at what’s included in the font package. Some versions of Attari come with alternate characters, ligatures, and stylistic sets. These small touches can help you customize the look for your brand without needing to switch fonts.

If you’re designing for international markets, check if the font supports multiple languages. That was important for me because I occasionally sell to customers in Europe, and I wanted the font to look just as good in other alphabets.

Final Touch: A Font That Feels Like Home

Switching to Attari wasn’t just about aesthetics—it was about making my brand feel like an extension of who I am and what my business stands for. It gave my candle brand a voice that was warm, trustworthy, and uniquely mine. Whether you're redesigning packaging, updating your social media, or creating a logo for the first time, choosing the right font can make all the difference.

Typography is more than just letters on a page. It’s part of your brand’s personality. And with a modern handwritten font like Attari, you can create a look that’s both memorable and meaningful—without losing the personal touch that makes small businesses special.
